Rajendra P.Jagdale, Ph.D. is a Director General of Science and Technology Park, a not for profit autonomous institute established by Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India and it is hosted by University of Pune. The Park acts as a bridge between industries and academia to make available resources and expertise from academia, research and development labs to industries.
He holds Masters degree in Botany and Ph.D. in Forest Ecology from University of Pune. Dr.Rajendra was also instrumental in making Indian Universities’ Technology Database that showcases some of the emerging technologies and potential of researchers from Indian Universities. This database was made for University Grants Commission, Govt. of India and supported by UN-Asian and Pacific Center for Transfer of Technology (APCTT). Dr. Rajendra is a trainer in Entrepreneurship and mentor for several start-up companies and works closely with DST’s Technology Business Incubation and Innovation management programmes. He is well-known Intellectual Property (IP) and Technology Transfer advisor and has been conducting International trainers’ training programmes in IP and Technology Transfer for last three years jointly with Michigan State University, US Embassy and APCTT.His major areas of expertise are Urban e-transformation using Science and Technology tools, IT open source and freeware, Intellectual Property Management and Technology Transfer, Business incubation and promoting innovation driven cluster development.
Due to his initiative Science and Technology Park developed and launched India’s most robust GIS based e-transformation/e-governance platform called GISDA (GIS for Dynamic Administration). For GISDA visitwww.pcmcgisda.org.in. The GISDA takes care of most of the GIS. The modules of this platform are being deployed in several cities like Ulhasnagar, Surat, Rajkot, Jalgaon, Mumbai etc.
He has been strongly promoting high – tech SMEs by making available technologies from across India and abroad and mobilizing funds. Has been promoting, very strongly industry –academia linkage and coordinating numerous technology development collaborative research projects funded by Industries.
Dr. Rajendra has visited over 67 countries and has led several ministerial and industrial delegations. collaborations in the area of IP and Tech transfer, environment & business incubation.
He is the Asian regional trainer for Ten3 business coach which a global e-learning portal on business. He represents several IP and technology transfer related committees of University Grants Commission, Govt. of India, Agharkar Research Institute (DST, Govt. of India), Member of Bureau of Indian Standards, Secretary of Indian Society of Remote Sensing and GIS, Pune regional chapter Chairman of ASMKI (Association of Small and Medium Knowledge Industries).
He is also the founder trustee of recently established ISBA (Indian Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Parks and Business Incubators’ Association) and a founder of the Society for IP & Technology Managers (SEPTUM). He is also advisor to several industries in the area of Food technologies, Information technologies, BT especially neutraceuticals. Recently he is co-coordinating a program on Eco-caring Sustainable Building Practices by establishing a consortium of experts in the area of alternative eco-friendly construction material and building practices. This is a think tank of experts to advise construction industry and also to sensitize consumers.
He is working as a faculty at the University of Pune, Department of Botany and now visiting professor at 4 departments of the University of Pune (Department of Management Sciences, Dept. of Environmental Sciences, Dept. of Space Sciences & School of Energy Studies). Former Joint Coordinator, Dept of Environmental Sciences, Univ. of Pune, Former Lecturer, Dept of Botany, Fergusson College, Pune. Six students completed Ph.D. and guiding four students at present.
